Casa Babel is a cozy rural accommodation specialized in birdwatching, ecotourism and nature; the place for ornithologists, birders and nature photographers to stay. Of the 360 bird species that inhabit Extremadura throughout the year, 210 species live in this territory.
Casa Babel is located next to Monfragüe National Park, Extremadura, in the old town of Torrejón el Rubio, it´s surrounded by some of the best-preserved evergreen holm oak forest “dehesas” in Extremadura. It has 4 double bedrooms, all with private bathrooms, distributed over 2 floors, a kitchen-dining room, a living room and a patio with a garden.
When we designed Casa Babel in 2008, we wanted to build the house we would like to live in: a simple, welcoming, ecological, beautiful, comfortable, open to the world, efficient, minimalist, and bright house.
Inspired by nature, Casa Babel was built following sustainable architecture principles and respect for the environment. Its construction and operation utilize thermal insulation, energy-efficient systems, solar panels and natural wood, all of which help save energy, integrate the house into its surroundings and add warmth.
It’s our little dream and our way of making a living doing what we are truly passionate about: birds, photography and nature.
Warm and simple, Casa Babel is a welcoming space, open to the world, offering comfort and well-being in the protected area of the Monfragüe Biosphere Reserve, a place of extraordinary biodiversity.
